HOPKINTON, N.H. – Pace cross country ventured to the Hopkinton Fairgrounds Course for the Northeast-10 Cross Country Championship on Sunday. Nine different Setters broke their personal best times at the event. In a field of 11 total teams, the women's squad placed tenth (274 points) while the men's team finished in 11
th place (338 points).
In the women's 6K, four Setters finished with a personal record, as
Raelle Gorman and
Jasmine Mares-Alvarado led the way. Both posted top 50 times, with Gorman finishing in 25:30:0 and Mares-Alvarado recording a personal best time of 25:35:7.
Behind the duo, was
Meryl Mizell (27:39:0),
Gianna Priore (28:11:9), and
Inara Coles (28:21:3). Rounding out the rest of the women's team was
Emma Voykhanskaya (31:13:0) and
Alexandra Harrison (34:01:5). Priore, Coles, and Voykhanskaya all earned a personal best time on the day.
As for the men's 8K, all five competitors recorded a personal best with
Adem Ozkurt and
Derek Bustillo crossing the finish line first. Ozkurt posted a time of 29:26:7 while Bustillo finished just behind the sophomore with a time of 29:27:2. Following the pair, was
Richard Christie (31:20:5)
Carlos Zhicay (31:30:3), and
Francesco DiBona (33:21:4).
Altogether, it was a strong performance from both teams at the Northeast-10 Championship. With only one event remaining in the 2024 season, cross country prepares next for the NCAA East Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 9
