NEWARK, N.J. – Competing in the penultimate meet ahead of the postseason, the Pace University cross country teams earned solid times at the 2018 Highlander Technology Challenge at NJIT on Saturday. Competing in a field of 29 DII and DIII schools, the women's team placed 8
th, while the men earned a team finish of 5
th amongst a field of 31 schools.
Women's Results
Heaven Swan (Wingdale, NY/Dover) was the leading runner for the Blue and Gold women on Saturday, clocking in at 20:28 and earning 38
th place.
Camryn Podgorski (Brewster, NY/Brewster) was Pace's second finisher, placing 47
th with a time of 20:50.
Rachael Daniels (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and
Jessica Uben (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) were separated by just two seconds in their finishes. Daniels earned 53
rd place with a mark of 20:56, while Uben's 20:58 placed 56
th.
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) and
Julia Presta (North Massapequa, NY/Farmingdale) also had a pair of near identical times, crossing the line one second apart. Raines' 22:40 and Presta's 22:41 placed 103
rd and 104
th, respectively.
Christina Jeroloman (Monroe, NY/Washingtonville) concluded the Setters' runners with a finish of 25:43, placing 159
th.
Men's Results
The Setters had three runners finish in the top 50 on Saturday.
Alec Valle (Newburgh, NY/Blair Academy) led the pack, finishing in 27:48 and placing 34
th.
Izzeldeen Farraj (Staten Island, NY/CSIHS/McCown) (38
th) and
Killian McCole (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) (40
th) were separated by two seconds, clocking in at 27:56 and 27:58, respectively.
Leading a pack of three Setters that all finished within ten places of each other,
Ricky Harris (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) earned 51
st place with a time of 28:28. Ten seconds later,
Ryan Oakes (Scarsdale, NY/Eastchester) crossed the finish line to place 58
th.
Mitchell Lawrence (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) was close behind, posting a time of 28:39 and placing 60
th. The men were rounded out by
Benjamin Dengler's (South Kortright, NY/South Kortright Central) effort, who placed 72
nd with a time of 29:28.
