PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 15 Pace University men's lacrosse team came out victorious on Wednesday afternoon as the Setters never trailed against No. 4 New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in a 13-7 win at Pace Stadium in non-conference action. The Setters had four players score multiple goals, led by a hat trick by junior 
Liam Brennan (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman). Sophomore 
Bradley Paterson (Caldwell, NJ/Depaul Catholic) also had his second straight big game, this time providing four assists.
 
FIRST QUARTER
- The Setters got off to a hot start in Wednesday's contest as sophomore 
Peter Bashar (Stratford, CT/St. Joseph) scored the first goal of the game at the 11:01 mark for an early 1-0 lead.
- Junior 
Joshua Kreitler (Shelton, CT/Shelton) scored the second goal off a feed from sophomore 
Vincent Vasheo (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) just over a minute later.
- Sophomore 
Bradley Paterson (Caldwell, NJ/Depaul Catholic) then assisted 
Liam Brennan (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) for his first goal of the game at the 5:11 mark.
- 50 seconds later, Paterson scored the fourth goal of the first period for the Setters to give them a 4-0 advantage.
- NYIT's Matt Chanenchuk scored the last goal of the quarter, but the Setters held a 4-1 edge heading into the second.
 
SECOND QUARTER
- The Setters opened up aggressively again, as sophomore 
Kevin Vogelsberg (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity Diocesan) and junior 
Michael Pappalardo (Ossining, NY/Ossining) scored goals early in the second frame for a 6-1 Setter lead.
- Chanenchuk and Andrew Zito each scored goals for NYIT, but Pace answered back 38 seconds later as Kreitler blasted in a goal at the 6:20 mark.
- To close the first half, senior 
Brandon Donnellan (Chester, NY/Warwick Valley) came sprinting down the field and fired in his first goal of the season with a 1:13 remaining giving the Setters an 8-3 advantage over NYIT going into the locker room.
 
THIRD QUARTER
- NYIT did not shy away from the early deficit as they scored three straight in the first four minutes of the third period to get back within two goals with plenty of time to go.
- Brennan and Vogelsberg each then scored their second goals of the game in the third quarter to push the Setters back up by four.
- NYIT's George Schultz scored the last goal of the stanza, but Pace headed to the final quarter with a
10-7 advantage over the Bears
 
FOURTH QUARTER
- Brennan opened the fourth period scoring his third goal of the game off another dish from Paterson.
- Bashar added another five minutes later to make it a 12-7 score, and Vasheo notched his first of the year with 2:46 remaining, while superb defense kept the No. 4-ranked Bears off the board in the final frame for a six-goal win.
 
GOALIE DECISIONS
Win: 
Robert Beshlian (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) (2-0)
Loss: Alex Seltzer (3-1)
 
Goalkeeper Notes:
- Beshlian made a whopping 14 saves in 60 minutes between the pipes leading the Setters to victory.
- Seltzer took the loss for the Bears after yielding 13 goals and making seven saves.
 
SETTER STATS
- Paterson finished with a game-high five points on four assists and a goal.
- Brennan tied for a game-best three goals and picked up three ground balls.
- Bashar, Kreitler and Vogelsberg each scored twice in the win.
- Paterson, Donnellan, Pappalardo and Vasheo blasted in a goal apiece for the Setters.
- Sophomore 
Matthew Simone (Seaford, NY/Seaford) scooped up a team-high five ground balls and added an assist.
 
BEARS LEADERS
- Chanenchuk finished with a team-best three goals for a team-high three points, along with five ground balls.
- Zito, Schultz, and Shlomo Amar added a goal each for the Bears.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters hit the road to take on Post University in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, March 11. The opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
