PLEASANTVILLE, NY-
Wyatt Barfoot netted six points as the Setters defeated the American International Yellow Jackets 17-9 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
Pace evens its record at 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-9 and 0-8 in conference play.
The Setters took control early in the game as
Matthew Cossidente netted two goals and an assist in the opening quarter as Pace led 4-2.
Anthony Gadaleta and
Joshua Krietler accounted for the other Pace goals in the first 15 minutes.
The teams traded goals early in the second quarter as Krietler netted his second score of the day one minute in, while
Trevor Chernoff added a goal for the Setters for make it 6-4 at the midway point. Pace added a pair of late goals as
Liam Brennan scored off a Barfoot assist, while Barfoot posted a goal on the extra-man opportunity with under a minute to play to give the Setters an 8-4 halftime lead.
Pace pulled away in third quarter as they outscored the Yellow Jackets 6-1. Gadaleta and Barfoot netted goals early in the second half for the Setters to extend their lead to 10-4. American International netted a goal but the Setters answered with four goals to close out the quarter. Krietler, Brennan, Gadaleta and Cossidente scored goals for the Setters to push their lead to 14-5 after three quarters.
The Setters added three goals in the fourth quarter as
Ryan O'Hagan netted his second goal of the season and
John Oteri scored his first goal of 2015. Barfoot added a late man-up goal for the Setters as the Yellow Jackets netted four goals in the final frame.
Barfoot led the way with three goals and three assists, while Cossidente finished with three goals and two assists. Gadaleta netted three goals and two assists, while Krietler totaled three goals and one assist. Brennan tallied a pair of goals and one assist.
Michael Bonitatibus recorded 10 saves in 60 minutes of action.
The Setters travel to Assumption College on Saturday, April 11 for an NE-10 clash against the Greyhounds at 4 pm.
