WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior captain
Matthew Cossidente recorded a team-best five points as the Setters dropped a Northeast-10 Conference matchup to the Assumption Greyhounds, 13-11.
In the first quarter of action, Assumption jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes, but Pace responded as
Christopher Brown put one passed the keeper on an assist by
Tyler Meigel to get the Setters on the board. After another Greyhound score, freshman
Wyatt Barfoot found the back of the net for the 19
th time this season, forcing action to 4-2 in favor of Assumption after the first.
Barfoot stayed hot in the second quarter as he opened the period with a score just 28 seconds in. His second score of the game was followed by five consecutive Greyhound goals. The two squads traded goals late in the quarter as Cossidente beat the goalkeeper for the first time and the Setters trailed 10-4 at the break.
Cossidente netted a pair of goals in the third quarter to try and help Pace mount the comeback. After an early Greyhound score, the junior scored back-to-back goals to pull the Setters within five scores.
Assumption scored the first goal of the fourth quarter 7:21 into play to pull the Greyhounds up by seven. However, the Setters stayed resilient and answered with a flurry of scores. Freshman
Liam Brennan hit the back of the net on an assist by Cossidente while Barfoot found twine for the third time. Pace closed out the game with a trio of unassisted goals as
Peter Sharp and
Dan Hanson each scored their first while Brennen netted his second. However, the deficit was too much for Pace to overcome as they fell to the Greyhounds 13-11.
Cossidente led Pace with three goals and two assists while adding a groundball. Barfoot totaled three scores with three groundballs and two caused turnovers while Brennan tallied two goals, two assists, and four groundballs.
Between the pipes,
Michael Bonitatibus played all 60 minutes, recording eight saves while allowing 13 goals.

th when they host Saint Rose on the campus of SUNY Purchase in Purchase, N.Y.
