#6 Men’s Lacrosse Falls to #3 Adelphi in NE-10 Quarterfinals

GARDEN CITY, NY- The #6 seed Pace men's lacrosse fell to #3 seed Adelphi Panthers in the Northeast-10 Championship Quarterfinals 18-11. The Setters finish their season at 8-7, while the nationally ranked #5 Panthers improve to 13-2 and advance to the semifinals.

Pace got on the board first as Anthony Gadaleta as he netted a goal less than a minute into the game. Adelphi tied the game three minutes later and took the lead, stretching their lead to 6-1. Matthew Cossidente scored on the extra-man opportunity with less than a minute left in the quarter to trail 6-2.

The Panthers opened the second quarter with six more goals as they extended their lead to 12-2 but the Setters added a late goal. Christopher Brown tallied a goal at the 3:47 mark but the Pace trailed by 12-3 at halftime.

The Setters and the Panthers both tallied four goals in the third quarter as Brown added two more goals to his tally for the game. Liam Brennan and Wyatt Barfoot added scores for Pace but the Setters trailed 16-7 heading to the final quarter.

Pace outscored the Panthers 4-2 in the final 15 minutes but fell short of a comeback. Brennan netted his second of the game early in the final quarter, while Cossidente also tallied his second goal. Tyler Meigel found the back of the net as well in the fourth quarter, while Peter Sharp capped the scoring with an extra-man opportunity goal.

For the Setters, Brennan and Cossidente each tallied two goals and two assists, while Brown turned in a three-goal performance. Sharp totaled a goal and two assists, while Barfoot finished with a goal and one assist. In net, Michael Bonitatibus recorded seven saves in 45 minutes of action. Chris Saar recorded four saves in eight and a half minutes, while Conor Brophy played six and a half minutes, posting one save.
