BRIARCLIFF, NY- Freshman
Liam Brennan totaled 10 points to help lead the Setters to as 17-8 win over the Saint Michael's Purple Knights in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace improves to 7-6 overall and evens it NE-10 record to 5-5, while the Purple Knights fall to 5-7, 4-6 in conference play.
The Purple Knights jumped out to an early lead with a pair of goals in the first five minutes of play. The Setters rallied to pull even and Brennan and
Joshua Kreitler netted goals for Pace to tie the game at 2-2. Saint Michael's retook the lead the Pace answered with a pair of goals by
Peter Sharp and Brennan scored one on the man-up opportunity. The Purple Knights pulled even with a late goal to end the first 15 minutes tied at 4-4.
Pace began to separate as they netted four unanswered goals to start the second quarter. Brennan got the scoring going at the 13:10 mark and assisted on two goals in the quarter.
Trevor Chernoff scored less than a minute later, while Kreitler and Sharp also found the net to push the Setters ahead 8-4. The Purple Knights tallied a late score but the Setters lead 8-5 at halftime.
Pace goalie
Michael Bonitatibus tallied a scoreless third quarter while the Setters offense heated up with eight straight goals that carried into the fourth quarter.
Wyatt Barfoot netted three of the goals in the run, scoring twice on the extra-man opportunity. Brennan netted a pair and assisted on two others goals, while
Anthony Gadaleta scored three times for the Setters to extend their lead to 16-5 early in the fourth quarter.
The Purple Knights netted three late goals, while
Ian Zakow accounted for the final Pace tally of the afternoon.
The Setters were led by Brennan's career day of five goals and five assists, while Sharp tallied two goals and three assists. Barfoot and Gadaleta each netted three goals, while Kreitler finished with two goals and one assist. In net, Bonitatibus (7-6) played 54 minutes, recording 10 saves.
Conor Brophy came on in relief between the pipes, recording three saves in just over five minutes of play.
The Setters host Bentley in their regular season finale on Saturday, April 25 at noon on the Pace Briarcliff campus.
