OSSINING, NY- The Pace men's lacrosse team fell by a goal to the Franklin Pierce 8-7 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Setters fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the NE-10, while the Ravens improve to 6-2 and 3-2 in conference play.
Pace struck first as
Trevor Chernoff got the Setters on the board in the first minute of play. The Ravens answered with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Setters tied the game at 2-2 on an
Anthony Gadaleta goal at the 8:29 mark of the first quarter.
Franklin Pierce tallied a pair of goals to go up 4-2 but
Christopher Brown second with under two minutes left in the quarter to cut it to 4-3. The Ravens added a goal early in the second quarter but the Setters answered with a pair of late goals.
Liam Brennan added goal, while
Matthew Cossidente scored with 11 seconds on the clock to pull Pace even at 5-5 at halftime.
The Setters jumped back in front
Ryan O'Hagan netted his first goal of the season midway through the third quarter, while Chernoff tallied his second of the day midway through the fourth quarter to put Pace ahead 7-5. The Ravens scored three goals in the final eight minutes to go back in front.
For the Setters, Chernoff netted two goals on the day, while Cossidente finished with a goal and one assist.
Michael Bonitatibus recorded 12 saves in 60 minutes in net.
