PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Women's basketball freshman
Gabriella Rubin was honored by the conference as a member of the Northeast-10 All Rookie Team this afternoon.
Rubin was impressive during her freshman campaign as she ranked second on the Setters with 11.1 points while leading the team with 38 steals. The freshman also ranked second amongst her teammates with 2.6 assists while adding 3.9 rebounds per contest. Additionally, she ranked second on the team and ninth in the Northeast-10 Conference with an 80.7% mark from the charity stripe.
Rubin displayed late-game heroics often throughout her first collegiate season. In an overtime victory against Queens on November 30
th she rattled home a shot from behind the arc to break a 52-52 tie with just 14 seconds left. Then, in a December 14
th 61-56 victory over American International, she went 4-4 from the charity stripe in the final 19 seconds of play to secure the Setter victory. In an overtime victory against St. Thomas Aquinas on January 4
th, with Pace trailing by a pair, she connected on a jumper with 49 seconds to play to force the overtime session. Then, trailing by one point with 30 seconds to play in the overtime period, she connected on another jump shot to give the Setters the lead and defeat the Spartans. Finally, with Pace trailing by three with 1:03 to play at home against Adelphi, Rubin drained the clutch triple to tie things up, and help the Setters go into overtime.
Rubin also climbed her way up the Pace freshman record books during her rookie season. Her 41 triples ranks her third all-time amongst freshmen behind just Stephanie Klingele and Taylor Losey who rank sixth and 11
th respectively on the all-time career points list at Pace. She also climbed up to fifth on the all-time scoring list in a freshman season with 310 points and ninth on the all-time freshman assists list with 72.
