PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) netted five goals (four in the second half) as the Setters used a second half surge to knock off the Greyhounds of Assumption College 16-5 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 2-3 overall and even their NE-10 record at 1-1, while the Greyhounds fall to 2-5 and 1-2 in conference play.
Pace jumped out to an early lead as Kolesar scored off an assist by Matt Mirabito (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC). Assumption answered with two goals to take a 2-1 lead but the Setters answered with a trio of goals. Matt Gebhardt (West Islip, NY/West Islip) (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and Mike Ruppert (Hicksville, NY/Holy Trinity) (Hicksville, NY/Holy Trinity) scored to close out the first quarter, while Mirabito scored midway through the second quarter to give Pace a 4-2 lead.
The Setters broke the game open in the third quarter as they netted seven goals, while keeping Assumption off the board to give Pace a commanding 11-3 lead. Kolesar posted a goal and two assists, while Mirabito had two goals and two assists in the quarter. Pace tacked on five goals in the final quarter with Kolesar scoring three times to give Pace the convincing win over the Greyhounds.
For the game. Kolesar had a career day with five goals and four assists, while Mirabito finished with three goals and seven assists for the Setters. Gebhardt and Ruppert each finished with two goals and one assist on the day. In net, Kevin Grady (Medford, NY/Bellport) recorded 11 saves in 60 minutes of action in goal for the Setters.
Pace returns to action on Saturday, March 31 when Pace will travel to Manchester, NH for a Northeast-10 Conference game against Saint Anselm College at 12 pm.
