Box Score 2 WALTHAM, Mass.- The Setters dropped a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader to the Falcons of Bentley, losing 2-1 in the opener and 4-0 in the nightcap. Pace falls to 17-22 and 9-14 in the NE-10, while the Falcons improve to 13-19 and 6-16 in conference play.
In the opener, Pace got on the board in the first inning as Rachael McMahon (Corona, CA/Esperanza) (Corona, CA/Esperanza) reached base on an error, while Lauren Bell (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free) singled to put runners at first and third. Samantha Garcia (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) singled in McMahon for a 1-0 Setter lead. Bentley answered in the fifth as Jackie Gauthier hit a solo homerun, while Tara Fogerty had an RBI single in the sixth for the go-ahead run for the Falcons.
On the mound, Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (7-7) tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out eight.
In the nightcap, the Setters were kept off the board by Fogerty as the Falcons scored four runs over the final three innings to win game two. Fogerty tossed complete games in both games for the Falcons to improve to 12-11 on the season.
For Pace, Christina Rescigno (Elmsford, NY/Good Counsel Academy) (Elmsford, NY/Good Counsel) (2-6) tossed four innings, allowing one run on three hits, while striking out three. Colby Hochmuth (Delanson, NY/Duanesburg) went the final two innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits.
The Setters Northeast-10 doubleheader scheduled for Friday at Stonehill has been moved to Monday at Stonehill at 3 pm.
