Box Score WEST HARRISON, N.Y.- The Setters came up short as American International scored two runs in the top of the ninth to come away with a 3-1 win over Pace this afternoon. Pace falls to 7-8-1 overall and 1-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 7-9 and 1-1 in conference play.
American International would strike first as they would push across a run in the second inning. The Setters would answer in the fifth as Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) blasted a solo homerun tie the score at one.
The score stayed tied until the ninth when the Yellow Jackets would score twice to take 3-1 lead. Pace was retired in order in the bottom of the frame.
For Pace, Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) pitched well, tossing 8 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out seven to fall to 1-2 on the season. Jonathan Hornung (Calverton, NY/Riverhead) retired two of three batters that he faced in the ninth.
The Setters return to action on Sunday, March 27 when Pace will travel to West Haven, CT for a NE-10 game against New Haven at 1 pm.
