PACE BESTED BY BENTLEY UNIVERSITY

Box Score

Winter Park, FL - The Setters were defeated this morning 15-4 in their sixth of seven ballgames in the sunshine state of Florida. Pace fell to 6-6-1 on the season as they lost to NE-10 opponent Bentley University who improved to 6-8 overall.

Bentley got things going early in the top of the first inning, scoring one run on no hits. The Setters would however bounce right back scoring two runs in the bottom of the first on two hits. Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) started things off by singling to the pitcher, then quickly advancing to scoring position by stealing second base. Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) would come through in a big way, jacking a towering, two run RBI homer to right field.

The Falcons would quickly tie things back up at 2-2 in the top of the following inning on four total hits. The bottom of the third proved productive for the Setters as they recaptured the lead at 3-2 on three hits. Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford) (Waterford, CT/Waterford) started the inning off with a single to left field. Steven Martinez (Bronx, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) followed that with a single of his own to the left side. With runners in scoring position Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) would hit an RBI single also to left field.

In a game that saw runs scored in many innings, the Falcons produced two runs of their own in the top of the fourth to take the lead 4-3 on two hits. Bentley would add to that lead in a big way in the following inning as they scored five runs, on six hits, and one error. Pace scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning but that would be the extent of their offensive production. The Setters eventually lost by a score of 15-4.

Shinning for Pace despite the loss was Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) who went 2-for-4 at the dish with a big home run, scoring one run.

Pace returns to action tomorrow Saturday, March 19th when they matchup against Stonehill College in Winter Park, FL at 10 am.
