SHIELDS DOUBLE-DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH AS SETTERS FALL TO SAINT ROSE

ALBANY, N.Y.- Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Setters fell to the Golden Knights of Saint Rose 54-51 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters fall to 18-7 and 12-7 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improve to 17-6 and 13-6 in conference play.

The Setters started out strong as they opened the game with a 14-5 lead in the first seven minutes of play. Pace would lead by as much as 12 points in the opening half before Saint Rose would cut it down to four points at 31-27 at the break.

Pace would extend their halftime lead to six points early in the second half at 39-33 with 15:28 left in the game. The Golden Knights would rally with a 9-0 run to take the lead at 42-39 at the 11:44 mark. Saint Rose would lead by as much as seven down the stretch but the Setters would rally to cut the lead down to one point. Allison Cleary's (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) triple with 1:56 left in the game pulled the Setters to trail 52-51. The Setters would be unable to take the lead as they would turn the ball over twice in the final minute of play.

Shields' double-double led the way for Pace, while Cleary finished with 10 points.

The Setters return to action on Wednesday, February 16 when Pace will host Le Moyne College at 5:30 pm.
