Box Score SETTERS FAIL TO MAKE
COMEBACK AGAINST FALCONS
WALTHAM, MA- The Setters fell in Northeast-10 Conference action
this afternoon to the Bentley University Falcons by a 5-2 score.
Pace falls to 6-16 overall and 2-8 in the Northeast-10 Conference
this season, while Bentley improves to 12-13 overall and 7-3 in
conference play.
The Falcons took an early lead by pushing across one run in the
bottom of the first after a muffed throw. Bentley would continue to
score at least one run over the next three innings (two runs in the
bottom of the second) to take an early 5-0 advantage.
The Setters would finally strike in the top half of the fifth
inning when Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) (Sea Cliff, NY/North
Shore) led the inning off with a single. A one out single
by Michael Rodriguez (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) (East Hampton, NY/East
Hampton) would move Chaputian to third. Chaputian would
eventually score after Chris Spatkowski (Bristol,
CT/Bristol Eastern) reached base on a fielder's
choice to make the score 5-1.
Pace would tag on another run in the top half of the eighth
after Mike Torello (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) scored
from first after a two out double by Tyler Hart (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) (Poughquag,
NY/Arlington). Unfortunately this deficit was too much for
Pace to overcome as Bentley held on for the three run win.
Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington)
(0-2) started the game for Pace lasting 7 1/3 innings giving up
five runs (three earned) on eight hits, and five strikeouts.
The Setters return to action tomorrow when they continue their
five game road trip when the team travels to Manchester, NH for
NE-10 doubleheader against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire
University, set to begin at noon.
