Box Score 2 SETTERS SPLIT WITH COPPIN

BALTIMORE, Md.- The Setters earned a split with the Eagles of
Coppin State as Pace lost game one 5-0, and won game two 9-6. The
Setters remain at .500 at 3-3, while the Eagles are now 10-6
overall.
In the opener, the Setters were limited to one hit as
Eagles' starter Paige Arnold tossed a complete game, striking
out 13. For Pace, Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (Babylon, NY/West
Babylon) pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on
nine hits, while striking out five.
In the nightcap, Pace took advantage of a countless errors by
Coppin State to earn the split. In the second inning,
Olivia Calcagnini (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown HS/Siena College) (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown/Siena
College) reached on an error and scored as Sarah
Meleney's (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery)
sacrifice bunt was thrown away by the pitcher. Kayla Nelson (Apple Valley, CA/Granite Hills/University of MD Eastern Shore)
(Apple Valley, CA/Granite Hills/UMES) and Kerri
McLean (Woodhaven, NY/Archbishop Molloy) both posted RBI
singles in the inning to lead the Pace rally.
Pace would add another unearned run in the fifth and tacked on
an insurance run in the sixth on a Larissa Porcelli (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown)
(Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) RBI single.
Coppin State would battle back with one run in the four and four
more runs in the fifth to pull to within 9-5 heading into the final
inning. The Eagles would add a run in the seventh but came up short
as the Setters picked up a split on the day.
In the nightcap, Alicia Parlon (Norton, MA/Norton) (Norton,
MA/Norton) (1-0) tossed 4 1/3 innings, allowing five runs
(four earned) on six hits, while striking out two. Kelly
Fisher (Castle Rock, CO/Douglas County HS) earned her
first collegiate save as she pitched the final 2 2/3 innings
allowing one unearned run on two hits and struck out three. On
offense in game two, Porcelli went 2-for-4 with Calcagnini scored
three runs for Pace.
Pace returns to action on Sunday, March 21 when the Setters
travel to Wilmington, DE for a non-conference doubleheader against
the University of Wilmington at 12 pm.
