Box Score WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BRINGS
WIN STREAK TO EIGHT AFTER BEATING ASSUMPTION
WORCESTER, MA- Pace senior Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) (Bristol,
CT/Bristol Eastern) netted a team-high 20 points in Pace's
70-49 victory over the Greyhounds of Assumption College. Losey shot
9-of-14 for throughout the contest.
The win improves Pace's record to 17-5 overall and 14-3 in the
NE-10. For the Greyhounds, the loss drops their record to 11-11
overall and 8-9 in conference play. This is the second time the
Setters have beaten the Greyhounds this season.
The schools battled to a 12-10 score with the Setters holding
the two point advantage with 8:52 remaining in the opening half. A
15-0 Pace run would extend the Setters' lead to 17 with 5:27
remaining. The Greyhounds would soon break the scoring drought with
a layup from Kelly Meredith, but the Setters would ultimately
maintain a 15 point lead at the half with the score 33-18.
Pace would keep the pressure on Assumption in the second half
shooting 50 percent from the field in the final period. The solid
shooting showed on the scoreboard as the Setters eventually
extended their lead to 22 with the score 64-42 with 5:47 remaining
in the game. From here the Setters would maintain their strong lead
for a 21 point victory.
Along with Losey, fellow senior Laura Mooney (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten
Island, NY/St. John Villa) drained eleven points of her
own along with dishing out a game-high nine assists. Junior
Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's)
also had a solid performance with ten points and a game-high nine
rebounds on the afternoon.
The Setters will be returning to action on Tuesday, February 9
when they face off against Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern
Connecticut State University at 5:30 p.m. in Pace's New York City
Campus.
