Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y.- The Setters overcome an early deficit to rally and cruise to a 60-47 victory in Pace's Northeast-10 Conference opener over the Panthers of Adelphi university. The Setters improve to 4-0 and 1-0 in the NE-10, while the Panthers drop to 1-1 and 0-1 in conference play.
The Panthers got off to a quick start as they built 19-9 lead with 7:50 left in the opening half. The Setters would rally back using their stingy defense to key a 20-0 run to close out the half as Pace would take a 29-19 lead into the break. Carol Johnson (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) led the Setters with nine points in the run, including the go-ahead basket with 3:01 left in the half that put Pace up 20-19.
Adelphi would close to within nine points in the second half at 31-22 but Pace would take control pushing the lead back to 15 points and led by double digits the rest of the way.
Pace was led by Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) who finished with 15 points on the day. Johnson came off the bench for a strong performance as she recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Maral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/Mary Louis Academy) chipped in 12 points and six rebounds to help Pace stay undefeated on the season.
The Setters return to action on Tuesday, November 23 as Pace will host Southern Connecticut State at 5:30 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
