GAME 1- SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT 79, QUEENS 60

PLEASANTVILLE, NY-Southern Connecticut State opened their 2010-11 season with a 79-60 win over Queens College. The Owls open up 1-0 on the season, while the Knights fall to 0-1 overall.

For Queens, Nicole Caggiano led the Knights with 15 points and three steals, while Amanda Bartlett chipped in with nine points, five assists, four steals and four boards. Caitlin Hopkins totaled nine points, six rebounds and three steals.

For Southern Connecticut, Shelley Pierson recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Sylvonya Moore also posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards.  

GAME 2- PACE 67, BRIDGEPORT 53

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Setters of Pace University opened with their third straight win on opening day as they defeated Bridgeport 67-53. The Setters improve to 1-0, while the Purple Knights fall to 0-1.  

For Pace, four played scored in double figures as Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's), Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) and newcomer Kerri White (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy/Manhattan College)  each scored 11 points on the day. Freshman Emily Trapani (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) finished her first collegiate game with 10 points and eight rebounds.

For Bridgeport, Edna Marant led the Purple Knights with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals. Elsebeth Birman totaled 10 points and six rebounds, while Elinor Avny and Ivy Morrison grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.  

Day Two of the Pace University Tip-Off Classic concludes on Saturday, November 14 as Southern Connecticut will play Bridgeport at 5:30 pm, while the Setters will take on Queens at 7:30 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
