Box Score LOSEY SURPASSES 1,000-POINT
BARRIER IN BLOWOUT WIN OVER ASSUMPTION
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) (Bristol, CT/Bristol
Eastern) became the 23rd player in Pace history
to surpass 1,000 career points as she connected on a trifecta at
the 11:21 mark of the first half. Pace would dominate the second
half on their way to a 62-39 victory over the Greyhounds of
Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters,
winners of eight of their last nine, improve to 9-3 overall and 6-1
in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds fall to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in
conference play.
The Setters defense dominated both halves of the game as Pace
held the Greyhounds to 32.1% shooting for the game. Kristin
Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) led Pace in the
opening half with 10 points, three boards and three blocks as the
Setters led at the break 25-20.
Assumption pulled to within two points at 32-30 with 14:38 left
in the game before the Setters broke the game open. The Setters
would close out the final 14:13 of the game with a 30-9 run to pull
away for the victory. Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor,
CT/Windsor) netted 10 points in the run, while Connolly
added eight points and Laura Mooney (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St.
John Villa) connected on a pair of triples for Pace.
For Pace, Connolly led the way with 20 points, six rebounds and
three blocks, while Mooney finished with 11 points and six assists.
Huggins chipped in with 10 point and six caroms. The Setters
converted all 16 of the free throws as Connolly knocked down all
six of her shots. Losey's lone points of the game came in the
opening half on a three-pointer, making her the 23rd
player in Pace women's basketball history to surpass the
1,000-point barrier for her career.
Pace returns to action on Wednesday, January 6 when the second
place Setters will take on the first place Ravens of Franklin
Pierce University in a Northeast-10 showdown at the Goldstein
Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus at 5:30 pm.
