LOSEY'S 19 POINTS IN FINAL PERIOD LIFTS SETTERS

MANCHESTER, NH - Taylor Losey's (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) 27 points, 19 in the final period, keyed a brilliant second half shooting performance for the Setters as they rallied past the Penmen 81-71 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace shot a blistering 69.2% (18-for-26) in the final period. The Setters improve to 7-15 overall and 6-11 in the NE-10, while the Penmen drop to 11-12 overall and 7-11 in conference play.

The Setters shot well from the outset of the game as they would build a 23-11 lead over the first 12 minutes of play. The Penmen would rally using a 15-5 run over the final six minutes of the opening period to take a 33-31 lead at the break. The Setters shot a solid 12-for-28 (42.9%) from the field, while the Penmen shot a blazing 63.6% (14-for-22) from the field but only led the Setters by two.

Pace would continue to hit on all cylinders in the final period as Losey would quickly tie the score at 33 early in the final period. The Penmen would briefly take a one-point lead but a lay-up by Stephanie Rossmy (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) put the Setters back up one on the ensuing possession. Following a Penmen turnover, Losey would put the Setters up three with a bucket and the Setters would hold a slim lead for the next six minutes. The Setters would take control of the game as Losey nailed a triple, scored on a lay-up and converted a three-point play on three out of four possessions to put Pace 58-49 with 9:11 remaining in the game. Southern New Hampshire would eventually cut the Setter lead to three but bucket by Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) and a three-point play by Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) pushed the lead back to eight and the Setters would cruise the rest of the way, posting the 10-point road victory.

The Setters were led by Losey second 27-point effort of the season, tying her career-high, while shooting 10-for-16 from the field and 5-for-7 from long range. Klingele finished with 13 points and four assists, while Welsome finished with 10 points and a team-high seven boards. Rossmy totaled 10 points and three caroms, while Christine Fitzgerald (San Diego, CA/Mt. Miguel) (San Diego, CA/Mt. Miguel) had a solid all-around effort with eight points, five boards and four assists. As a team, the Setters shot a season-best 55.6% (30-for-54) from the field, including their blistering final period effort.

For Southern New Hampshire, Julia Houghtaling totaled 25 points and nine caroms, while Stephanie Houghton tallied 18 points and five assists. Sara Tucker chipped in 10 points.

Pace returns to action when they travel to New Haven, CT to take on the Owls of Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday, February 13 in a Northeast-10 Conference game scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
