PACE DEFEATS BLOOMFIELD 76-60 IN NON-CONFERENCE GAME
NEW YORK, NY - Pace's Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) (Bristol, CT/Bristol
Eastern) and Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island,
NY/St. John Villa) each poured in 22 points to lead the
Setters over the Deacons of Bloomfield College 76-60 in a
non-conference game played at the Pace campus in downtown
Manhattan. The Setters improve to 5-11 overall, while the Deacons
drop to 7-8.
The Setters changed venues for this non-conference game
traveling to its downtown Manhattan campus and struggled in the
opening four minutes of the game allowing Bloomfield to take an
11-2 lead. Pace would eventually settle in as freshman guard
Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) began
raining threes' on the Deacons. Welsome nailed four trifectas over
a 10 minute stretch, keying a 25-8 run as the Setters went from
nine points down to eight points up at 27-19 with six minutes left
in the half. The Setters would take a 37-28 lead into the break.
Bloomfield would battle back in the second half and slice the
Setters lead to a mere three points at 56-53 with 7:11 left in the
game. The Setters would pull away as sophomore Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern)
(Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) nailed three consecutive
three-pointers and scored all 13 points in the Setters 13-4 run to
push the game back to double digits at 69-57 with 3:40 left in the
game as the Setters would cruise to the finish and snap their two
game losing streak.
For Pace, Losey and Klingele each scored with 22 points with
Klingele leading the Setters with eight boards and Losey grabbing
seven. Welsome finished with 15 points and two steals, while
Laura Mooney (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa)
totaled a game-high and career-best 10 assists.
For Bloomfield, Shantae Barnes (Abesecon, NJ/Absegami) posted a
double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Tiffany
McDaniel (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) totaled 17 points and six caroms.
Ashley Crenshaw rounded out the double figure scorers for the
Deacons tallying 13 points and six boards. The Deacons
out-rebounded the Setters 40-37, but the Setters posted the better
shooting percentage at 43.8%-34.5% for the game.
Pace returns to conference action when they travel to Waltham,
Mass. on Tuesday, January 22 to take on Bentley College in a
Northeast-10 Conference game scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
