SHADA'S NIGHTCAP GEM COMPLETES PACE SWEEP
OF BENTLEY
WALTHAM, MA- Kiryl Shada (Pleasant Prairie, WI/Tremper) tossed a gem in the nightcap, pitching
a complete game two-hit shutout, while striking out 11, as the Pace
softball team swept Bentley College. The Setters took Game 1 9-3
and won Game 2 behind Shada's performance 6-0. The Setters improve
to 16-28 overall and 7-17 in the NE-10.
Pace struck first in the opening inning, as Kerri McLean (Woodhaven, NY/Archbishop Molloy) drew a
walk with two out and scored on Patricia Hurley's (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) double. The
Setters added to their lead in the second, scoring three times,
capitalizing on a Falcon error. Pace added to their lead in the
fourth as McLean drove in a pair of runs with a single. The Setters
put the game away in the fifth, taking advantage of three Bentley
errors, leading to two more Setter runs.
Kim Troiano (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) earned the win in relief striking out two and
allowing three hits and no runs.
The Setters completed the sweep behind Shada's gem in the
nightcap. Carolyn Krause (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI,
while Hyra Kameraj (New York, NY/Notre Dame) and Julia Hunt (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) each had 2 RBI in Game 2.
The Setters return to action when the host Assumption College on
Tuesday May 1, for Senior Day on PAce Briarcliff campus with first
pitch scheduled for a 3:30 pm start.
