Softball Splits with No. 21 Franklin Pierce Behind Strong Offensive

RINDGE, N.H. – Pace University Softball split a Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) doubleheader against nationally ranked No. 21 Franklin Pierce University on Sunday, earning a 13-7 victory in the opener before falling 11-3 in a five-inning second game. The Setters showcased an explosive offensive performance in game one before the Ravens responded in the nightcap, moving Pace to 15-19 overall and 7-13 in conference play.

Game One
The Setters wasted no time setting the tone, scoring in each of the first three innings to build an early advantage. Pace plated one run in the first and another in the second before breaking the game open in the third inning.

Ava Edmond highlighted the frame with a three-run home run as part of a five-run inning, pushing the lead to 7-1. The Setters continued to apply pressure offensively, collecting 16 hits in the contest and consistently finding ways to generate runs.

Franklin Pierce responded with runs in the middle innings, cutting the deficit to 10-7 after six. Pace answered immediately in the seventh, scoring three runs to extend the lead to 13-7 and secure the victory.

Edmond led the offensive effort with six RBIs, while Kara King recorded four hits and Nikki Chong added a pair of RBIs. The Setters showcased depth throughout the lineup, with multiple players contributing to the 13-run output.

Alyssa Smart earned the win in the circle, tossing five innings while limiting damage through key stretches. Priscilla Del Toro closed out the final two innings to secure the victory.

Game Two (5 innings)
The Ravens jumped out early in the second game, scoring two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with an eight-run third inning. The surge created immediate separation and put Pace in a difficult position early.

The Setters responded with two runs in the third to cut the deficit to 10-2, with Addison Martinez driving in a pair. Pace added another run in the fifth, but could not complete the comeback effort.

Franklin Pierce added a run in the fifth to secure the 11-3 run-rule victory. Riley Jenkins led the offense with three hits, while Martinez drove in two runs in the loss.

The Setters look to bounce back on Tuesday for a NE10 matchup at Adelphi University with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. .
