Box Score WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CRUISES TO 72-54 WIN
OVER SAINT ANSELM
MANCHESTER, NH - Four players scored in double
figures as the Pace women's basketball team cruised to a 72-54 win
over the Hawks of Saint Anselm in the Northeast-10 action. The
Setters improve to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the Northeast-10, while
the Hawks drop to 2-5 and 1-5 in conference play on the season.
Neither team had an advantage early action as the score was tied
at 17 midway through the opening period. The Setters would take
control of the game, using an 11-2 run over a four minute stretch
keyed by a three-pointer and a jumper by Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern)
(Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern). The run was capped by a
pair of free throws by Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island,
NY/St. John Villa) with 4:43 left in the game. A Klingele
lay-up a few minutes later would give Pace a 10 point advantage and
would go into the break with a 35-29 lead.
Saint Anselm hung around through the early part of the second
half and trailed by three with 11:50 to go in the game. The Setters
ended any hope for the Hawks, using a 15-3 run to take a 58-43 lead
and ice the game for Pace. Klingele had a pair of lay-ups in the
rally, while Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St.
Peter's) nailed a pair of three-pointers, including the
rally capper with 5:44 left in the game. The Setters maintained
their double-digit advantage the rest of the way and posted the
victory.
For Pace, Klingele lead all scorers, posting a game-high 18
points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three
steals. Connolly chipped in 15 points and eight caroms, while
Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's)
tallied 13 points, five boards and three steals. Stephanie
Rossmy (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) posted a
game-high 13 rebounds to go along with her eight points.
For Saint Anselm, Erin Huggins totaled 13 points and four
rebounds, while Reilly O'Keefe chipped in 11 points and six
rebounds off the bench. Carleen Orawsky recorded a team-high nine
boards, while scoring 10 points.
Pace returns to action when they host Northeast-10 Conference
opponent Southern Connecticut State University on Friday, December
21 for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
