MANCHESTER, NH- The Pace University women's basketball team
defeated the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University, 76-48, in
a Northeast-10 Conference match-up held at the SNHU Fieldhouse. The
Setters had four players in double-figure scoring as they improve
to 6-1 on the season and 4-1 in the NE-10. The Penmen fall to 1-4
overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Pace took a 30-23 lead into the half with the help of a 13-2 run
starting at the 13:13 mark. The Setters first half performance was
led by Stephanie Rossmy (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John
Villa) as she scored seven of her 11 points in the first
half. Rossmy ended the day with seven rebounds and a game-high five
assists. Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) (Norwich, CT/Norwich Free
Academy) and Laura Mooney (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St.
John Villa) also contributed with five points apiece in
the first half as they both ended the day with eight points.
Sheppard also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Setters put the game away as they started the second half on
a 17-8 run. Pace would go on to build their lead by as many as 30
points as they shot 64% from the field and outscored the Penmen
46-25 in the second frame. The Setters second half act was led by
Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego) as she scored
nine of her 11 points in the second half. Juana Andrews
(Augusta, ME/Cony) added eight of her game-high 12 points
in the second half, while Liran Buchris (Massad, Israel/Great Neck South) (Massad,
Isreal/Great Neck South) chipped in seven of her 10 points
in the second frame.
For Southern New Hampshire, Ashara Carrington and Brooke LeFort
scored 12 points apiece. The Penmen were held to 35% shooting from
the field and 7% shooting from beyond the arc.
Pace outrebounded Southern New Hampshire 41-33.
The Setters return to action on Tuesday, December 5th
when they travel to Albany, NY to take on the Golden Knights of The
College of Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up.
Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
