Mendez was a catalyst for a shutdown Setters defense that helped the Blue and Gold get off to a 1-0 start on the gridiron. The red-shirt sophomore lineman was unable to be contained by the Millersville offensive line, recording four tackles-for-loss, including three sacks. Mendez and the Setters defensive line held the Marauders to minus-24 yards on the ground en route to Pace's 23-10 victory. Mendez was also recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
