PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In recognition of his disruptive effort in the Setters' front seven,
Joe Mendez (Old Bridge, NJ/Manalapan) of the Pace University football team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally,
Jhalen Bien-Aime (Dorchester, MA/Bridgton Academy),
Brandon Simmons (Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross Academy) and
Pat Davis (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) all made the NE10's Weekly Honor Roll.
Mendez was at the forefront of a Pace defense that dominated Millersville University last weekend. The redshirt-sophomore racked up three sacks and four tackles-for-loss for a unit that held the Marauders to minus-24 yards rushing. In fact, Pace didn't allow a single point over the final 47:39 of regulation en route to Pace recording a 23-10 win. The Blue and Gold yielded just 66 yards across the entire second half.
Mendez and the rest of the Setters will make their home debut on Saturday against the University of New Haven at noon.
