Ian Prate

Ian Prate was hired as the new assistant coach for Pace men's lacrosse prior to the 2018-19 school year.

Prate joins the Setters following a four-year collegiate career at NYIT. The West Islip, N.Y. native was a long-stick midfielder for the Bears, earning multiple accolades throughout his time at NYIT. In 2017, Prate was named a USILA first-team All-American as well as the Division II Long Pole Midfielder of the Year. He was also selected as the East Coast Conference’s co-Defensive Player of the Year in addition to being named to the All-ECC and ECAC First Teams.

Prate followed up his strong junior year by captaining the Bears in 2018, and earning ECC and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. He was also named an USILA second-team All-American and USILA Scholar All-American in 2018, as well as a member of the All-ECC and All-ECAC First Teams for a second consecutive year.

Prate has previously worked as an assistant coach for the West Islip High School junior varsity summer league team, as well as serving as the head coach for Team 91 2021/2022 team. He has also volunteered at skills clinics throughout West Islip and at NYIT.
