Volleyball Takes Control Late to Earn Four-Set Win over Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT. – Pace University Volleyball bounced back in strong fashion Saturday afternoon, earning a four-set victory over the University of Bridgeport inside Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. The Setters took the match 25-19, 20-25, 25-15 and 25-22 to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Pace set the tone with a productive opening frame, recording 15 kills to take the first set, 25-19. Bridgeport responded in the second with a 25-20 decision to even the match, but the Blue and Gold quickly regained control following the break.

The Setters limited their mistakes in the third, committing just two attacking errors while holding Bridgeport to a .069 hitting percentage. Pace used the efficient effort to pull away for a 25-15 win and take a 2-1 advantage in the match.

The fourth set was the most competitive of the afternoon, featuring 13 ties and 10 lead changes. Pace stayed composed through the back-and-forth frame and closed out the match with a 25-22 victory.

Kadence Ackmann led the Setters with 11 kills while adding three service aces and six digs. Ileann Alessandra Perez contributed eight kills and three total blocks, while Jaliyah Johnson finished with seven kills and four total blocks. Paola Ortiz added six kills, four aces and seven digs.

Pace's serving game played a major role in the victory as the Setters finished with 14 aces compared to five for Bridgeport. Camila Rodriguez matched Ortiz with four aces while dishing out 13 assists. Aralyn Saulys led the team with 16 assists, and Alice Bender posted a team-high 14 digs.

The Setters finished the afternoon with 39 kills, 35 assists, 48 digs and 14 service aces, securing their third victory through the first four matches of the 2026 campaign.

Volleyball returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 8, traveling to Rutherford, NJ, for a 7:00 p.m. match-up against Felician University.
