PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Niall Rodgers was named the Northeast 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping Pace University men's soccer open the 2026 season with a pair of victories.
The Yonkers, NY native was on the field for every minute of the Setters opening weekend, logging all 180 minutes across wins over Goldey-Beacom and Daemen. Rodgers helped Pace limit its opponents to just one goal over the two matches and played a key role in the Setters shutout victory against Daemen.
His impact was not limited to the defensive end. In Pace's 3-1 season-opening win over Goldey-Beacom, Rodgers contributed two assists to help spark the Setters attack. With Rodgers helping control the back line, Pace opened the year 2-0 while allowing just one goal through its first two matches. The honor marks Rodgers' first NE10 weekly award of the 2026 season.
The Setters return to action Wednesday, Sept. 2, when they travel to Orangeburg, NY, to face Dominican University of New York at 4:00 p.m.
