Men's Soccer Falls to Saint Michael's on Senior Day

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Despite controlling much of the offensive action and generating 24 shots, Pace University Men's Soccer suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon at Northwell Stadium. The Setters moved to 5-8-3 overall and 1-7-1 in Northeast 10 Conference play.

Before the contest, the Setters celebrated Senior Day, recognizing the graduating members of the men's soccer program for their contributions and dedication to the Blue and Gold.

Pace created opportunities early, with Daniel Santos and Ervin Radoncic each forcing saves during the opening 20 minutes. Saint Michael's broke through in the 29th minute, scoring what proved to be the game's only goal.

The Setters entered halftime trailing 1-0 despite holding a 6-5 advantage in shots and a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

Pace increased its offensive pressure considerably after the break, recording 18 second-half shots and nine corner kicks while limiting the Purple Knights to just three attempts.

Joshua Zapata tested the opposing goalkeeper twice in the second half, while Eric Garcia also generated multiple scoring opportunities. Acland Zhang nearly found the equalizer in the 87th minute, but his shot was turned away to preserve the visitors' advantage.

Radoncic paced the Setters with six shots, followed by Garcia and Jevan Khan with four apiece. Santos and Zapata each recorded three attempts, while goalkeeper Joe Zweben finished with two saves.

Pace held a commanding 24-8 advantage in shots and a 13-0 edge in corner kicks, placing eight attempts on target.

The Setters will look to finish the regular season on a strong note on Monday, Oct. 26, as they host Saint Thomas Aquinas College for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
