PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Men's Soccer made its first appearance at Northwell Stadium on Sunday afternoon, shutting out Daemen University, 3-0, on their home turf. Following the convincing win, the Setters improve to 2-0 behind a goal in the opening half and a pair of late strikes.
The Blue and Gold applied pressure from the opening whistle, generating 12 first-half shots. The breakthrough arrived when Daniel Santos finished a feed from Derrick Henry to give the Setters a 1-0 advantage. Pace carried that margin into halftime while allowing just two Daemen shots over the opening 45 minutes.
The Setters continued to create chances after the break but had to wait until the closing minutes to put the contest away. Viktor Noaksson doubled the lead in the 82nd minute before Jevan Khan added the finishing touch seven minutes later, converting off assists from Noaksson and Santos for the 3-0 final.
Santos finished with a goal and an assist, giving the senior captain a goal in each of the Setters' first two contests. After scoring in Friday's 3-1 win over Goldey-Beacom, Santos has two goals and an assist through the opening weekend. Noaksson also delivered a three-point afternoon with a goal and an assist.
Joe Zweben turned aside all five shots on goal to earn the shutout, including three second-half saves. The Setters held a 26-9 advantage in total shots and have now outscored their first two opponents 6-1.
Pace returns to the road Wednesday, Sept. 2, traveling to Orangeburg, NY, to face Dominican University of New York at 4:00 p.m.
