NORTHBOROUGH, MA. – Pace University Women's Lacrosse saw three of its standouts recognized among the best in the country Wednesday afternoon, as
Marissa Doty,
Sasha Kulo, and
Annie Sheehan earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II All-America honors.
Doty and Kulo received First Team All-America recognition, while Sheehan landed on the Second Team. The IWLCA honored 48 student-athletes from 21 institutions across its three Division II All-America teams, recognizing the top performers in the sport this season.
Doty earned First Team honors in the midfield after continuing to impact the game in every area for the Blue and Gold. The sophomore has powered Pace throughout the spring with 49 goals, 67 points, 48 ground balls, 41 caused turnovers, and 51 draw controls. The Syracuse, N.Y. native was also named the Northeast 10 Conference Midfielder of the Year and recently earned IWLCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling nine points in Pace's NCAA Quarterfinal win over Adelphi University.
Kulo joined Doty on the First Team as one of the top draw specialists in Division II. The senior has controlled possession at a record-setting pace for the Setters, recording 204 draw controls this season while helping Pace create a major advantage in the circle. A native of Brewster, N.Y., Kulo has pushed her career past 430 draw controls and continued to add to the program record she broke earlier this spring.
Sheehan added Second Team honors at attack after serving as one of Pace's top offensive creators. The junior leads the Setters with 45 assists and 78 points while adding 33 goals, 25 ground balls, and 24 caused turnovers. Sheehan also delivered one of her top performances on the national stage, finishing with four goals, three assists, and seven draw controls in Pace's NCAA Quarterfinal victory.
The three IWLCA All-America selections continue a strong postseason awards run for the Setters. Pace placed seven student-athletes on the IWLCA All-East Region teams, with Doty, Kulo, and Sheehan each earning First Team All-East Region honors before moving on to the national list.
The honors come as Pace continues its NCAA Division II Championship run in Rochester, N.Y. The Setters enter championship weekend at 16-5 overall and will face Florida Southern College in the national semifinals on Thursday, at 4:30 p.m. at Judson Stadium in Rochester, N.Y.
