NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA. – Pace University Baseball sophomore
Eric Santaella has been named the Northeast 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. native turned in a strong week on the mound, going 1-0 with a save while helping the Setters earn a pair of conference victories. Santaella totaled 8.0 innings and nine strikeouts across two appearances.
The right-handed pitcher's week was highlighted by a complete-game victory at Assumption, where he tossed 7.0 innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out eight and walking only one. Earlier in the week, he also picked up a save in relief, adding to a productive stretch for the sophomore.
Santaella's outing added to an impressive season in which his 2.45 ERA ranks first in the NE10, while he also sits among the conference's top ten in strikeouts (51), innings pitched (55.0), saves (1), and opponent batting average (.229).
A steady presence in the weekend rotation, Santaella has played a major role in Pace's pitching success this spring and continues to be one of the conference's top arms heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
The Blue and Gold close out the regular season this weekend at home, beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m. before wrapping up the series on Saturday.
