NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA. – After a productive week on the diamond, Pace University Baseball freshman
Manny Carreras has been named the Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The Danbury, CT. native hit 8-for-20 (.400) across five games, scoring six runs and driving in nine RBIs while helping power the Setters offense through a strong conference stretch. Carreras recorded hits in four of five contests and totaled three home runs on the week.
The infielder opened the series at Assumption with one of his top performances of the season, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and two home runs, providing a major spark in the series opener.
Carreras closed the weekend with another standout effort in the series finale, finishing 2-for-3 with four runs scored, three RBIs, and another home run, continuing a week in which he provided major run production in key moments.
The freshman also continued his climb up the program record book, moving into second all-time in freshman RBIs with 39 on the season, just two shy of the program record, while his RBI total ranks in the top 15 for the NE10. His production has continued to provide a major boost in the middle of the Blue and Gold lineup.
The Setters close out the regular season this weekend at home, beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m. before wrapping up the series Saturday with doubleheaders.
