Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Behind First-Half Surge at Saint Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Pace University Women's Lacrosse overwhelmed Saint Michael's College from the opening draw, using a dominant first half to secure a 22-5 victory on Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field. The Setters controlled the pace throughout and built a commanding early lead, improving to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10).

The Blue and Gold set the tone immediately, scoring four goals in the opening minutes behind a pair from Lisa Heffernan and tallies from Maddie Schubert and Marissa Doty. Pace continued to push the tempo, closing the first quarter on an 8-2 run to take full control.

The Setters carried that momentum into the second quarter, piling on seven more goals to extend the lead to 15-2 at halftime. Heffernan and Schubert fueled the surge, while Annie Sheehan orchestrated the offense with multiple assists during the stretch.

Pace remained in command in the third quarter, outscoring Saint Michael's 4-1 to push the lead to 19-3. Abigail O'Connor and Sheehan added goals in the frame, while the defense limited Saint Michael's to just two shots in the quarter.

The Blue and Gold closed the game with three more goals in the fourth, as Lia Villari, Mary Kate Nawrocki, and Lindsay Radmann each found the back of the net. Saint Michael's added two late goals, but Pace maintained control to the final whistle.

Heffernan led all scorers with seven goals, while Schubert added five goals and an assist. Sheehan recorded two goals and five assists, and Mackenzie Carita added four assists as the Setters totaled 22 goals on 40 shots.

Camryn Smith earned the win in goal, allowing three goals while making two saves in over 50 minutes of action. The Setters controlled possession throughout, holding a 22-7 edge in draw controls and limiting Saint Michael's to just nine total shots.
