Sheehan’s Six-Point Day Not Enough as Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No 9. Saint Leo

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Tuesday,No 12. Pace University Women's Lacrosse received a standout performance from Annie Sheehan, who totaled three goals and three assists, but the Blue and Gold fell to No 9. Saint Leo University, 13–10, at Northwell Stadium. Despite a strong offensive effort and a late push, Pace moved to 3–3 overall.

Pace struck first in the opening quarter as Maddie Schubert found the back of the net off an assist from Lia Villari to give the Setters a 1–0 lead. Saint Leo responded quickly with three consecutive goals to take a 3–1 advantage heading into the second quarter.

The Blue and Gold battled back in the second. Sheehan opened the scoring for Pace before Mackenzie Carita converted a late man-up opportunity off a Sheehan assist, trimming the deficit to 5–3 at halftime.

Saint Leo extended its lead early in the third quarter, but Pace responded with a strong run. Schubert scored to make it 6–4 before Sheehan added back-to-back goals, cutting the deficit to 9–6 and keeping the Setters within striking distance heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth, the Blue and Gold continued to fight. Lisa Heffernan scored off a Sheehan assist, and later Laura Luikart and Carita each converted on man-up opportunities to cut the deficit to 12–9. After Saint Leo added another goal, Heffernan scored again late, but Pace could not close the gap as Saint Leo secured the 13–10 win.

Sheehan led the offense with six points, while Schubert and Carita each added two goals and an assist. Heffernan finished with two goals, and Luikart added a score in the balanced offensive effort.

Defensively, Pace held advantages in ground balls (16–15) and draw controls (13–12), while generating consistent pressure throughout the contest.

Women's Lacrosse returns home on Saturday, hosting Franklin Pierce University at 3:30 p.m. for Senior Day at Northwell Stadium.
