Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Strike Lifts Blue and Gold to Win Over Chestnut Hill

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Sunday afternoon, Pace University Women's Soccer showcased an all-around effort and defeated Chestnut Hill College by a 1-0 score at Northwell Stadium. With the result, the Setters improve to 2-0 while recording their second consecutive home victory.

The Blue and Gold wasted little time finding the back of the net. In the sixth minute, forward Ava Viebrock scored her second goal of the year, finishing a setup from midfielder Andrea Flores. The strike gave the Setters an early lead that they carried into halftime.

Pace controlled much of the first half, registering seven shots and three corner kicks. Allison Carr tallied multiple attempts on frame, while Bailey Olson and Juliana Procopio also kept the Chestnut Hill goalkeeper busy. At the other end, senior goalkeeper Anna Fiore came up with two key saves to preserve the advantage.

The Setters continued to dictate play after the break, producing 12 shots in the second period and earning three more corners. Despite a missed penalty shot to extend the lead, the Pace defense locked down the closing stages to secure the win.

Fiore finished with four saves in a complete-game effort, notching her first clean sheet of the year. Carr led all players with five shots, while Viebrock, Olson, and Procopio combined for five additional chances on goal. The back line of Hannah Rautenstrauch, Milani Thompson, and Kaelyn Reinhard anchored a defense that held Chestnut Hill to just six total shots and only four on target.

The Setters return to action on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., traveling to Roberts Wesleyan University for a non-conference match-up.
