Women’s Soccer Drops Road Meeting with Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Despite generating more opportunities, Pace University Women's Soccer came up short on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a 2-0 decision to Roberts Wesleyan University. The Setters, who entered the match unbeaten through their opening two contests, now hold a 2-1 record on the year.

The afternoon began on a challenging note for the Blue and Gold as Roberts Wesleyan broke through less than three minutes into the match to seize an early advantage. Pace, however, responded with resilience, pushing forward to create sustained pressure in the attacking third.

Alexis Lee fired the first significant chance for the Setters in the sixth minute, forcing the Redhawks' goalkeeper to make a diving save. Bailey Olson added to the offensive push with a shot in the 15th minute, while Ava Viebrock nearly leveled the score in the 21st minute with an attempt that skipped just wide.

Pace's midfield and defensive units worked cohesively to turn defense into attack, resulting in five first-half corner kicks. Moving ahead in the half, the Redhawks managed to double their lead in the 32nd minute, putting the Setters in a two-goal deficit at the break despite the 6-4 edge in total shots.

Taylor Moyer sparked the attack off the bench, recording a pair of looks, including a dangerous strike in the 82nd minute that carried just over the crossbar. Viebrock added another close-range attempt in the 77th minute, but the Redhawks' defense held strong under pressure, leading to a 2-0 loss for Pace.

Pace out-shot Roberts Wesleyan by a 13-10 margin, including an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Setters also controlled set-piece opportunities, holding a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

The Setters continue their early-season road swing on Saturday, traveling to Manchester, N.H., to take on Saint Anselm College for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff. The meeting with the Hawks marks the first in-conference match-up of the season as Pace looks to make a statement against the rest of the league.
