PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Returning home for a midweek matchup under the lights, Pace University Women's Soccer battled through a tight contest before falling by a 2-1 margin to Molloy University on Tuesday evening. The Setters, who entered the night looking to build momentum after a stretch of road games, slip to 3-4 overall on the season and 0-2 in Northeast 10 Conference play.
The first half featured end-to-end play, with both teams probing for openings in transition. Pace had early looks from
Andrea Flores,
Bailey Olson, and
Allison Carr, while goalkeeper
Anna Fiore answered with a key save in the 25th minute to keep things level. Molloy broke through in the 35th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After the break, the Setters came out more aggressively. In the 58th minute, freshman
Meredith Klosek found the equalizer off an assist from
Milani Thompson, calmly slotting her effort into the bottom corner to tie the match. Pace sustained pressure for the next 15 minutes, with Carr nearly putting the Blue and Gold ahead, hitting a shot on frame that was blocked by Molloy's keeper.
The deadlock held until the 74th minute, when Molloy converted a set-piece chance to regain the lead. From there, Pace pressed hard—
Juliana Procopio and
Ava Viebrock both had promising looks late—but couldn't find the equalizer. Fiore finished with three saves, while Pace outshot the visitors 14-10 overall.
Pace returns to the pitch next on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when the Setters host Saint Michael's College at Northwell Stadium.
