WALTHAM, MA. – Pace University Men's Soccer dropped a Northeast 10 (NE10) Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon, falling by a 3-0 margin to Bentley University at Bentley Soccer Field. With the result, Pace Men's Soccer moves to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in NE10 play.
The Falcons struck first in the 10th minute, but the Setters responded with several quality looks in the opening frame.
Ervin Radoncic paced the attack with a pair of shots, including one on target that forced a save in the 24th minute.
Daniel Santos tested the Bentley goalkeeper with an attempt in the 15th minute, while
Derrick Henry added an early effort in the seventh minute.
Goalkeeper
Joe Zweben turned aside three shots in the half to keep Pace within striking distance, sending the Blue and Gold into the break trailing by a single goal.
Bentley doubled its advantage just over two minutes into the second half and extended the lead again in the 55th minute. Despite the deficit, the Setters continued to push forward, generating six more shots after intermission.
Radoncic added two more chances, while Santos and
Ben Dunkerley each recorded shots on frame. Freshman
Theo Poehlmann came off the bench and produced a late opportunity in the 88th minute, but Bentley's keeper preserved the clean sheet.
Zweben finished the afternoon with four saves across 90 minutes of action. Overall, Pace registered 13 total shots, with seven on goal, while also earning three corner kicks.
Men's Soccer will look to rebound on Wednesday, September 24, when they travel to Southern Connecticut State University for an NE10 matchup. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
