PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Behind a massive seventh-inning rally and a clutch walk-off double from junior
Andrew Heppner, Pace University baseball came from behind to defeat Southern Connecticut State University, 6–5, in extra innings Friday at Finnerty Field.
The win moves the Setters to 22–20 overall and 10–9 in Northeast-10 play, as they continue to battle for postseason positioning in the conference standings.
Here's What Happened
- Pace fell behind early, trailing 4–0 through six innings, but turned the game on its head in the bottom of the seventh. Six hits in the frame sparked a five-run explosion, led by an RBI single from Mason Baronian to give the Setters their first lead of the day.
- Despite snagging the lead, Southern Connecticut tied the game in the top of the ninth with a two-out RBI single, sending the game to extras.
- In the bottom of the 10th, Baronian drew a walk and moved to second on a single by Anthony Labita. With one out, Heppner stepped in and drove a double into the left-center gap. Baronian came around to score, giving Pace a dramatic walk-off win and completing the comeback.
