PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Sunday afternoon, Pace baseball was outmatched by the Yellow Jackets of American International College (AIC), falling 11-6 on their home turf. A late push from the Blue and Gold was not enough in the series finale as they fall to 16-12 overall, and 7-6 in the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference.
Here's What Happened
- The Yellow Jackets were the first to strike in the contest as they lit up the scoreboard in the second inning with five runs crossing the plate. Later on, in the top of the fourth, AIC brought home three more runs to extend their lead to 8-0 over the Setters.
- In need of a comeback, the Setters found success at the plate in the seventh inning, led by RBIs from Bradyen Sweppenhiser and Luke Rivara. Heading into the eighth, Pace trailed 8-2. Knocking on the Yellow Jackets door, Pace trimmed the deficit to 8-5 behind George Provel's first collegiate home run, an inside the park round-tripper.
- Despite cutting into the deficit, the Yellow Jackets responded with a three-run long ball in the top half of the ninth to put away the Setters by a final score of 11-6.
