MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Sunday afternoon, Pace baseball hit the road for a doubleheader match-up against the Hawks of Saint Anselm College. In the twin-bill meeting, the Setters captured a 10-7 win in game one, before falling in game two, 5-0.
With less than a week remaining in the 2025 regular season, the Setters now have a 21-20 overall record and a 9-12 record inside the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference.
Game One
- In an offensive battle, the Setters lit up the scoreboard first with a run in the opening inning. Answering back, the Hawks tied up the game in the bottom of the first to bring a 1-1 tie into the second.
- Moving into the fifth, the Setters trailed by one run on the road and were in need of a rally. Mason Baronian delivered and in a big way, driving a three-run home run to center field, making the score 5-3 with the Setters ahead. Before the inning ended, Robbie Caffery found a gap in the outfield to bring home two more runs, leading to a 7-3 advantage.
- After the productive inning, Saint Anselm responded with a four-run inning of their own to bring the game back to all square as neither side held the lead moving into the sixth.
- Two innings later, Andrew Heppner tilted the score in Pace's favor, 8-7, with a long ball to center field. With two more runs in the ninth inning, the Setters gained control with a 10-7 lead, which was enough to fend off the Hawks in game one.
Game Two (7 innings)
- Game two was all Saint Anselm as the Setters could not bring home a run in the seven-inning contest. Despite several opportunities on the offensive end, the Blue and Gold left six runners on base as the Hawks ran away with the game.
- A three-run sixth inning from the home squad sealed the deal as Pace fell in the second game of the twin-bill by a final score of 5-0.
