Baseball Falls to SNHU in Road Doubleheader

HOOKSETT, N.H. – On Friday afternoon, Pace baseball fell in back-to-back games on the road against Southern New Hampshire University. In game one, Pace lost 5-3 before falling in game two by a final score of 3-1.

With only six games remaining in the regular season, the Setters now have a 20-19 overall record and an 8-11 record within the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference.

Game One
  • A second-inning long ball off the bat of Mason Baronian lifted Pace to a 1-0 advantage over the Penmen. Despite the quick start, the next four runs went to the home squad as SNHU held a 4-1 lead after five innings of play.
  • Trailing by three runs, the Blue and Gold had a late push offensively in the ninth but came up short in game one, 5-3.
Game Two
  • The Setters were the first to strike in game two, led by a base-loaded walk for Dominic Rivara. Similar to game one, the first to score did not come away with the win as the Penmen answered back in the next inning to even up the game, 1-1.
  • With solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings, a 3-1 lead favored SNHU as the Setters failed to find momentum at the plate.
  • In the seventh inning, Pace had one final chance to put themselves back into the contest; however, three straight outs led to a 3-1 loss for the Blue and Gold.
Box Score Insights
  • Baronian led the squad with two hits, two runs, and one RBI, while Benjamin Tullo tallied two hits, one run, and one RBI.
  • As a team, the Setters had 13 hits, which was identical to SNHU's 13 base-knocks.
  • On the mound, Adian Kempf (1.2 IP, 3K's, 0 ER) and Brendan McCann (1.1 IP, 2K's, 0 ER) both had solid outings out of the bullpen.
Up Next (Saint Anselm College)
Next in store for the Setters is a Sunday twin-bill against Saint Anselm College beginning at 12:00 p.m.
