PLEASANTVILLE, NY - #8 Pace Women's Lacrosse hit the road to Worcester, MA to play Northeast-10 Conference opponent, Assumption University, late Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue and Gold were paced by
Annie Sheehan's six points (4G, 2A) and
Laura Luikart's five goals for the 20-6 commanding victory over the Greyhounds to improve to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Here's What Happened:
- Mackenzie Carita and Luikart tallied the first two goals of the day for the Setters and each time the hosts were able to equalize the score. After the Greyhounds caged their go-ahead goal, 3-2, Nikki Mottes made it a clean slate once again, 3-3, and the Blue and Gold ran away to close out the first quarter with a 6-3 lead.
- A dominating second quarter featured goals from Carita, Luikart, Sheehan, Maddie Schubert, and Marissa Doty for a 10-point advantage at the half, 14-4.
- The Greyhounds shattered their cold streak with two goals in the third when they caged the first of the second half, 14-5, and their sixth of the game after Sheehan, 15-6.
- As the final stanza began, the Blue and Gold led the Greyhounds 18-6 and held the host scoreless to cap off the afternoon with a 20-6 victory.
Box Score Insights:
- Sheehan ended the night with six points on four goals and two assists with three draws and two ground balls. Luikart led all scorers with five goals and snagged two ground balls.
- Mottes finished with one goal and three assists for four points. Carita caged three in the day and Schubert and Gigi Genovese had two.
- Sarah Scheidel led the team defensively with three caused turnovers while grabbing three ground balls and tallying four draws.
- Samantha Tanguay recorded her eighth win of the season in goal with 7 saves.
