#2 Setters Open Conference Play with A Win at Franklin Pierce

KEENE, NH - #2 Pace Women's Lacrosse opened Northeast-10 (NE10) play Wednesday evening with Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire.

The Setters shut out the Ravens in the first quarter while they went on to score 10 in the frame to tackle the hosts for the 18-4 victory.

Here's What Happened:
  • NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, Annie Sheehan, sparked the scoring play for the Blue and Gold with the first goal of the contest. Throughout the remainder of the opening quarter, Pace also featured goals from NE10 Player of the Week, Mackenzie Carita, Lisa Heffernan and Maddie Schubert with back-to-back goals, Marissa Doty, and Nikki Mottes.
  • The second quarter was more evenly matched with the host finding the back of the cage twice and the Setters four with the Blue and Gold in front, 14-2, at the half.
  • After intermission, it was the Ravens who had a shut-out quarter while they tallied two goals in an attempt to catch up to the massive Setter advantage, 14-4.
  • The tables were soon turned in the fourth and the squad locked down on their defensive end and held off the Ravens for the 18-4 NE10 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Carita led all scorers with five goals and Doty was right behind with five points of her own on four goals and one assist.
  • Heffernan recorded three goals and led the charge with four ground balls. Sheehan had two goals, and four draw controls and Mottes finished with four points with a pair of goals and assists.
  • Samantha Tanguay recorded the win making four saves.

Pace Women's Lacrosse (5-0 / 1-0 NE10) will take a week hiatus and will be back in action on March 16th down in Lakeland, FL where they will match up with #3 Florida Southern College at 12:00pm.
