#2 Women's Lacrosse Drops for First Time to #4 Florida Southern

LAKELAND, FL - #2 Pace Women's Lacrosse is in the sunshine state of Florida for their Spring Break two-game schedule starting Sunday afternoon. The Setters matched up with #3 Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL, for their opening contest.

After a massive 10-1 first stanza for the hosts, the Setters could not claw their way out of the trenches for their first loss of the year, 20-11.

Here's What Happened:
  • Florida Southern tallied 14 shots in the first, while the Blue and Gold recorded four. With that, the hosts caged 10 goals within the first 15 minutes of the afternoon while Mackenzie Carita caged the lone goal of the frame for the squad, 10-1.
  • Carita went on to post the next two points for Pace in the second quarter as they trailed the Mocs, 14-3, at the half.
  • The Blue and Gold locked in during the third quarter when they held their opponents to nil and went on to score five to sit within six. Maddie Schubert featured her first of the third to ignite the second half, followed by Gigi Genovese, Carita, and Allison Petrullo, 14-8.
  • Nikki Mottes kept the offensive push going for the Setters with a final stanza point, 14-9, but the Mocs recorded three consecutive goals to maintain their 17-9 advantage.
  • Annie Sheehan and Schubert would net the final points of the afternoon as the Blue and Gold fell short, 20-11, to drop to 5-1 so far this season.
Box Score Insights:
  • Carita led all scorers with four goals, while Sheehan led in points with a total of six on one goal and five assists. Carita also snagged three ground balls and forced a caused turnover.
  • Sheehan recorded two caused turnovers. Schubert caged three goals for her best outing in the 2025 season.
  • Elsa Branco tallied seven saves in 46 minutes in goal.
