RV Softball Earns Tenth Straight Victory with Sweep against Franklin Pierce

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – For the tenth game in a row, RV Pace softball is victorious as they defeated Franklin Pierce University (FPU) in back-to-back contests on Sunday afternoon. A 7-0 win jump started the sweep before the Blue and Gold wrapped up their fourth victory in the conference, winning 4-2.

The Setters are in the midst of their hottest stretch of the season as they now sit at 16-8 overall and 4-0 within the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference.

Game One
  • In the opening match-up, the Setters racked up three runs before the end of the third, led by RBIs from Riley Jenkins, Katerina Luna, and Brianna Shea. With a 3-0 advantage, Gisselle Garcia cruised through the Ravens lineup, allowing only two base runners through four innings.
  • In the fifth, Pace tacked on two more runs, putting the game out of the opponents' reach in the final innings. Garcia had her way in the concluding innings, as the Setters went on to secure their ninth win in a row by a final score of 7-0.
Game Two
  • Both teams neared each other in game two, as the game was decided in the final inning.
  • Pace's first two runs came in the third and fourth innings after two home runs left the ballpark. Long balls off the bats of Riley Jenkins and Lauren D'Orazio helped the Setters lead 2-0 after the fourth inning.
  • In the fifth, the Ravens crawled back into the game after taking advantage of an error from the Pace defense. After five innings of play, the score was all square at two runs apiece.
  • Moving into the seventh, neither side pulled away until the Setters threatened the Ravens with two runners on and no outs. The two-hole hitter, Kaylee Matsuda, delivered in an immense way for Pace, driving a lining single up the middle to give the lead to the home squad.
  • Following another run scored in the top half of the seventh, the Blue and Gold shut the door on Franklin Pierce as Gracia returned to the circle to earn her third save of the 2025 season.
  • In a hard-fought battle, the winning score eventually favored Pace 4-2 in the NE10 clash.
